CLASSROOM POLICIES
1. Be courteous
Use appropriate language and behavior
Finish food and drinks before you come to class. Neither is allowed inside the room.
2. Be prepared
Have your assignments completed, and bring all required materials to class every day. None of the materials listed below will be provided for you, and trips to your locker will not be allowed.
All electronic devices must be COMPLETELY POWERED DOWN. Any electronic devices that are activated (e.g. by a call or text) during class will be turned over to the office for disposition. This is NOT negotiable.
3. Be in class and on time
Use the restroom and/or your locker before you come to class.
Attend class every day that you possibly can. You do NOT want to get behind in this class.
GRADES
Major tests 70% There will usually be 3 tests each 6 weeks, 2 unit tests and an optional six-week test.
Daily work 10% This includes assignments and, possibly, notes from class lessons.
Quizzes 20% There will be about 2 - 3 each 6 weeks.
In general, no credit will be given unless work which supports an answer is shown. Daily assignments may be graded on either accuracy or completion, or both. There will be no retests or second chances on quizzes as such. However, we offer an optional six weeks test can replace a student's lowest test grade up to a maximum grade of 85 if such a replacement improves that student's average.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
All provisions of the Bowie High School Academic Integrity policy (as outlined in the student handbook) will be strictly enforced. As a student in a Pre-AP class, your complete honesty at all times is expected.
MAKE-UP WORK AND LATE WORK
If you are absent, you are responsible for getting class notes and working, checking, and submitting makeup work in a timely fashion. To receive full credit, makeup work after an absence of n days must be graded and submitted within (n+1) school days (NOT class days) of your return.
TUTORING
Tutoring is available every morning from 8:10am to 8:50am.
SUPPLIES
Required supplies include the following:
1. Pencils with erasers -- ALL work must be done in pencil.
3. Dedicated three-ring binder with 5 dividers for math only
4. Pen (for grading)
5. Loose leaf paper, graph paper and ruler

- Missed quizzes must be made up before class begins the next class day after the quiz was scheduled. Check the calendar and KNOW what is happening in class, especially if you plan to be absent.
- Missed tests must be made up outside of class time (that is, either before or after school or during lunch) in a single sitting. Be sure to allow at least 45 minutes.
